The Challenge
An international oil and gas operator required reliable, real-time monitoring of critical assets located across remote areas of the Niger Delta region in West Africa. The primary objective was to acquire actionable aerial data while minimizing operational risks, costs, and human exposure to challenging environments.
Traditional monitoring methods involving manned aircraft or on-foot inspections presented significant safety and security concerns and often failed to access certain areas. The client needed a safer, faster, and more cost-effective way to gather high-quality, up-to-date information over extensive and sometimes inaccessible terrain.
Our Approach
To meet these challenges, our team deployed Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), executing Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) aerial surveillance missions across the designated areas of interest provided by the client.
Our operations were conducted under full compliance with aviation and regulatory frameworks — including licenses, NOTAMs, security clearances, and operating permits (ROC) — ensuring safety and adherence to national standards.
A key strength of our approach lies in our localized operational model, where trained local teams support logistics, security, and communications, enhancing efficiency and fostering trust within the host communities.
The Results
- Conducted extensive BVLOS surveillance flights across multiple sites
- Logged significantflight hours covering wide geographic areas
- Achievedreal-time data transmission to the client’s control center for swift response
- Deliveredhigh-resolution imagery, videos, and detailed mission reports
- Improved safety, accuracy, and data reliability byover 70% compared to traditional methods
Impact
The delivery of real-time, high-quality aerial data enabled the client to make immediate and informed operational decisions — optimizing asset protection, reducing risks, and enhancing overall situational awareness.
This project significantly reduced the need for manned flights and ground patrols, lowering operational costs and improving personnel safety, while ensuring consistent data acquisition from areas previously inaccessible by foot.
